Orissa`s expectation to see anyone from the State compete in the Beijing Olympic Games ended in smoke with the defeat of its two woman rowers in the semifnals of the qualifying meet, which concluded at Sanghai earlier this week.
Local girl Pravasini Dwivedy (22) and her fellow SAI Hostel trainee Mina Madhuri Toppo posted wins against opponents from Sri Lanka and Malaysia in the 2 kilometre single scull event, but lost to Chinese women in the semifinals.``It pains me that no body from Orissa will represent the country in the Olympic Games this time,`` she lamented.
